Medical imaging technology has come a long way since the days of scratchy black and white x-rays that would show if a bone was broken or not. These days, medical professionals can see practically anywhere inside the body without have to do invasive surgery or inconvenience the patient with long hospital stays or medication. It’s a chance for doctors to look closer and properly diagnosis the damage caused after an injury or to just simply ensure that everything is working okay inside a person’s body.

There are a few main types of imaging tech available for doctors and patients. X-rays are the most common still as they are cheap to use, but unlike the comment above, x-rays these days have become excellent images that can be used to diagnose more than bones. Instead, doctors and other medical professionals can use this tool to examine a patient for organ and other internal complications.

MRI technology has always been the most advanced imagery tech, and it’s come a long way as well. Using computers MRI images can be complied into a three-dimensional representation of the body, which can be used to tour the body such that almost any area can be examined in concert with the entire body.

Ultrasound technology similarly has allowed medical professionals to create three-dimensional images of the body, most charmingly for use in maternity work. However, this technology can also be used to form images of organs on the spot so that time spent developing x-rays and generating MRI images.

These tools together allow doctors to more accurately do their job and get it done right the first time.
