Medical Imaging
Medical imaging technology has greatly improved the health of countless patients health and saved lives. As technology in a number of areas advances have been applied to medical imaging technology, which has allowed medical professionals to see so much more than would have been able to before. In this way, doctors can accurately asses the extent of injuries or illnesses, or spot possible troublesome areas before they develop into something more serious. It means better coverage for a patient and a greater relief for doctors that they are making the correct diagnosis.
Moreover, these technologies also allow for patients to avoid painful surgery or complicated testing in order to check internal injuries or problems. These days a doctor can quickly use ultrasounds to graph an area of the body and in doing so avoids having to have the patient opened up or undergo more deleterious procedures such as x-rays, which expose the body to radiation.
Imaging technology consists of a number of tools. As mentioned above, x-rays have long been a staple of medical practices, however these days the images are more refined and can be taken from better positions in order to give a clear picture of a patients health. Ultrasounds have moved beyond simple two dimensional images and can now provide three-dimensional images of a the interior of the body.
Other more complex machines such as MRIs have vastly improved to form a near complete picture of the body so that doctors can analyze systematically without harming or causing stress to a patient.
